Public Schools
The Clark County School District operates close to two hundred schools
serving more than 180,000 students. An aggressive program of school
construction increases the number of schools available each year. The school
system includes classes from kindergarten through twelfth grade, a
vocational-technical school, and an evening high school.
There are special programs for physically and mentally impaired children,
for vision and hearing impaired students, and for the academically talented.
A child must be five years of age by September 30 of the current year to
attend kindergarten or six by the same date to enter first grade. Proof of
age (birth certificate or baptismal certificate) is required for enrollment.
Transfer students should contact the zoning department at (702) 799-7573 to
learn which school they should attend and then register at the school. A
withdrawal slip or last report card from the former school is required for
registration.

Private Schools
Private schools include nursery schools, kindergarten, and day schools of
Catholic, Hebrew, Christian, Lutheran and Seventh Day Adventist
denominations, plus several schools for the education of exceptional
children. Bishop Gorman and Faith Lutheran are private high schools for boys
and girls.
